Glasshouse Mountains is a town located in the Sunshine Coast region of Queensland, Australia. The area is rich in history dating back thousands of years, beginning with the traditional custodians of the land, the Gubbi Gubbi people.

The Gubbi Gubbi people were known for their hunting and gathering skills and their connection to the land. They lived off the plentiful resources of the area, including fish, game, and plant foods. The Glass House Mountains were considered a sacred place for the Gubbi Gubbi people, with many Dreamtime stories connected to the unique rock formations.

The area remained relatively untouched until 1770 when Captain James Cook sailed past the coast. The first European settlement in the area was established by Andrew Petrie in 1862, who named the town after the Glass House Mountains.

The town began to prosper with the arrival of the railway in 1890, and by the early 1900s, Glasshouse Mountains was a thriving agricultural community. The fertile soil of the region was perfect for growing a variety of crops, including pineapples, avocados, and citrus fruits.

During World War II, the Glasshouse Mountains were used for military training. The area was perfect for jungle and mountain warfare training, and soldiers from all over Australia came to the region to train.
